Safari zones
If you wanna experience the thrill of safari then you should visit Kanha National Park. The safaris here are done in different zones. People can make a Kanha online safari booking to enjoy a ride in this park. There are four core zones called Kanha, Sarhi, Mukki, and Kisli. The core zones are strictly looked after and these zones protect the wildlife and natural resources. There are also four buffer zones called Khatia, Sijhora, Phen, and Khapa. These zones are used by both people and nature. All of the eight zones have their own entry gate and safari timings. People can enjoy a canter or gypsy safari in Kanha in any of these zones.
Core Zones of Kanha National Park
Kanha Zone
In Kanha Safari Zone, you’ll experience beauty at its finest with special flora like bamboo and grasslands. After making a Kanha Safari Booking for this zone, you can visit the famous Shravan Taal. There is a story behind Shravan Taal which says that once King Dashrath mistook Shravan Kumar for a deer and then killed him. You can also find the famous Kanha Museum here, where you can find many things that keep the local culture alive. The entrance gate for this zone is Khatia Gate.
Sarhi Zone
In Sarhi Zone, there are big meadows surrounded by dry deciduous forests. A famous spot here is Saunf Meadow, where the Barasingha deer was first seen in 1966. Sarhi Zone is located in the northern part of Kanha National Park. Apart from tigers and other animals, this zone is good for sightings of Nilgai and Blue bull antelope. The entrance gate for the Sarhi zone is the Sarhi Gate.
Mukki zone
This area is wildlife central. The landscape here features bamboo, Saal trees, and grasslands. This Kanha safari zone is situated in the southern part of Kanha. According to the Tiger Sighting Index, this zone is the best for spotting tigers. Along with tigers, you can spot Hard Ground Swamp Deer, Indian Bison, Wild Dogs, and Leopards here. This zone is famous among wildlife enthusiasts, who especially come to Kanha National Park for tiger sightings. So, if you're dying to spot a tiger, Mukki Zone is the area to be. The entrance gate for the Mukki zone is the Mukki gate.
Kisli Zone
The view of Kisli zone is very fine, you’ll see beautiful grassland and bamboo plants during your canter or gypsy safari in Kanha. The other name for this zone is Khatia Zone. Nature lovers would like to visit this Kanha safari zone as it’s a scenic area where beautiful pictures can be taken. The entrance gate for the Kisli zone is the Khatia Gate
Buffer Zones of Kanha National Park
Khatia zone
This Kanha Safari zone is located on the southern boundary of Sariska Tiger Reserve. It attracts people to enjoy a safari because it offers sightings of animals like chital, sambar, blue bull, gaur, langur, wild pig, etc. One can enter this zone from the Khatia gate and all morning, evening and night safaris are allowed here. This is the buffer zone of this area and it surrounds the core Kisli zone because of which, one can spot a lot of chital here.
Khapa Zone
This Kanha safari zone is located on the western side of Sariska Tiger Reserve. The Khapa zone of Kanha National Park has dense forests which attract a lot of bird species and because of that this is the best zone for birding. This Kanha Safari zone offers sightings of animals like chital, langur, wild pig, sloth bear, blue bull, gaur, Indian wild dog, sambar, barking deer, and jackal. The entry gate is Mukki for morning, evening, and night safaris here.
Sijhora zone
The entry gate of this Kanha Safari zone is Sarhi and one can enjoy a morning, evening, and night safari here. This zone is also located on the southern edge and it supports spottings of animal species such as chital, sambar, barking deer, langur, wild pig, jackal, etc. Reptiles and birds can also be found here. People come here to experience the calming vibes that cannot be felt in other zones of this wild and famous Sarika National Park.
Phen zone
The entry gate of this Kanha Safari zone is the Ghurri Barrier gate if you’re coming for a morning safari and the Mukki gate if you’re coming for an evening safari. This is not an official zone, rather this area is known as Phen Wildlife Sanctuary. It comes under the area of Kanha Tiger reserve and one can spot here animals like tigers, sloth bears, Indian bison, chital, sambar deer, nilgai, langur, peafowl, wild boar, hyena, etc.
Safari Booking procedure
Step 1: To book a safari in Kanha, you have to visit kanhanationalpark.in.
Step 2: Select the date from the calendar on which you wanna enjoy the safari.
Step 3: Choose the safari mode, which means the safari that you wanna enjoy.
Step 4: Select the safari zone in which you wanna go for your thrilling canter or gypsy safari in Kanha.
Step 5: Select the timings, or you can say the time slot for which you wanna book your adventurous ride.
Step 5: After that, you need to enter the name of the person who is booking the Safari.
Step 6: After that, you need to enter the name of the person who is filling in the details for Kanha online safari booking.
Step 7: You have to provide your correct number and Email ID to go to the next page.
Step 8: Then a page will open, on that page you have to fill in the state from which you’re coming along with your full address.
(Note: The address should be properly mentioned and match the identity you’re providing).
Step 9: Then enter the details of passengers who are going on the gypsy safari: like full name, age, gender, nationality, state, ID proof, and ID number (You have to fill in the complete and correct details of the passengers identity proof, failing which your booking would not be granted).
Step 10: At last, you have to pay the amount that will be mentioned on the page.
Requirements of Safari bookings

The full name of the tourist who is going to be on safari .

The nationality of the tourist must be mentioned when filling in the details to confirm slots of Kanha Safari Booking.

Gender and age of the tourist should be given.

Don’t forget to keep the original ID proof during your safari.

Driving license, Voter or PAN card, Passport, and Aadhar Card are accepted as original ID.

Acceptable ID proofs for foreigners include the original passport.

Payment for safari packages, including Gypsy, guide and driver charges, permit fees, camera charges, hotel drop-off/pick-up, service, and processing fees, need to be made at the time of the Kanha Safari Booking process.

Terms and conditions for hotel drop-off/pick-up must be read during online booking.

You have to choose the zone of your safari ride at the time of booking, it cannot be changed after the Kanha online safari booking is done.

You can only enter the safari zone for which you have got the permit.

Identification documents that you have mentioned during booking need to be presented at the entry gate. The details of the documents should match.
Tips for booking
If you want a comfortable ride then secure all seats of gypsy when making Kanha Safari Booking for even just four people. 6 persons can go on one gypsy but it can make the ride a little bit uncomfortable.
You have to carry the hard copy of the permit because the soft copy is not accepted.
If you don’t want to miss your safari then bring your original ID card that you’ve given for your booking.
Kanha National Park is closed from June 16 to October 1 so Kanha online safari booking cannot be made for this time.
The morning time for the safari ride is from 6 am to 11 am and the afternoon safari time is from 3 pm to 6 pm. This time can also change, it depends on the season.
Because of the rush, on-spot booking can be difficult or not available so book your safari in advance.
No modifications can be made after Kanha online safari booking is completed.
If a booked gypsy is unavailable due to unavoidable reasons, then the entire booking amount will be refunded within two days.
Forest authority holds the right to modify or cancel permits due to unavoidable circumstances; their decision is final.
