Famous Tigers of Kanha Tiger Reserve

Kanha National Park is famous among people because of the Royal Bengal Tiger. People especially go there to see these ferocious cats in their natural habitat. This park is home to around 500 of them roaming freely there. But, some tiers of this park are famous among people because of their uniqueness. Let’s learn about the famous tigers of Kanha Tiger Reserve.

Munna

Munna is the most famous tiger in this park and he is famous because of his forehead. By looking at his forehead, one can easily say that his forehead markings seem to spell the words ‘CAT’ and ‘PM’. This is an interesting fact about Munna that attracts people to spot him inside the park. The name of this tiger is T-17 and he is mostly seen in the Kisli zone of the park. He often strays and preys on his own accord. Unlike others, he easily comes in front of travelers and if you can spot him inside the park then it is no less than that of seeing a celebrity. He has a great attitude and one can easily say it by looking at his walk.

Umarpani Male

He is the biggest male tiger in Kanha National Park and is popular because of that. He has a story, he was born back in 2009 along with his brothers and sisters in the same litter. But, after 2 years his brothers and sister mysteriously disappeared. The brothers and sister were older than him and after their disappearance, he emerged as the biggest tiger in Kanha. He has good hunting skills and with a wide skull and large circumference, he is the biggest Tiger in Kanha.

Neelam

Neelam is known as codename T-65. She is the daughter of the famous tiger Munna and Mundi Dadar. Just like her father, she is another famous tigress of Kanha National Park. She was born in 2012 and then she gave birth to litters of cubs in multiple phases. This one tigress is famous among people as the ‘Queen of Kanha’. She is known as the queen because of her courageous and aggressive nature among all other tigress. In 2014, when she was a sub-adult, she was radio-collared and her life was documented for a brief period for research purposes.

Dhawajhandi Female

Dhawajhandi Female is known as the DJ and she is the star of the Mukki zone of the park. She was mostly seen in the Mukki zone and she was born to the first litter of Choti Mada along with her siblings. The codename of DJ is T-27. She and a young male tiger named Bheema are known for their love. They are the popular pair of the Mukki Zone. Her offspring have contributed to the growth of the tiger population in Kanha.
