Kanha National Park is a wild spot, and it has separate gates for entering different zones. The gates of this park give access to both the buffer and core areas. Each gate serves as the starting point for safaris and is connected to nearby towns and villages. Here’s everything you need to know about the location and entry details of each Kanha Safari Gate:
1. Khatia Gate (Core & Buffer)
This gate serves as the main entry gate for the park and is the most commonly used by tourists since it connects directly to Mandla and Jabalpur. It is located on the southern boundary of Kanha National Park, and is close to the Kisli zone. This gate allows entry to Kisli core zone and Khatia buffer zone. Morning and evening safaris, including night safaris in the buffer zones, start from here.
2. Mukki Gate (Core & Buffer)
This gate is in the southwest side of Kanha National Park and is near the Mukki zone. It allows people to come inside the boundaries of Kanha from the towns like Baihar and the Balaghat district. It allows people to enter the Mukki core zone and Khapa buffer zone. This is a convenient option for those who are traveling from Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh.
3. Sarhi Gate (Core & Buffer)
This is one of the best safari gates of Kanha as it is on the eastern side of the park and allows people to enter inside the Sarhi core zone and Sijhora buffer zone. This gate is less crowded as compared to others and is best for whose who want peaceful safari experience. Morning, evening, and night safaris in the Sarhi zone begin from here. It is around 100km from Mandla and 200km from Jabalpur.
4. Ghurri Barrier Gate (Buffer - Phen Zone)
This Kanha Safari gate is located close to the Phen Wildlife Sanctuary, near the Mukki zone boundary. This gate is located around 40 km from Baihar and 100 km from Mandla. It is used as the entry gate for morning safaris in Phen Wildlife Sanctuary. However, evening safaris for Phen start from Mukki Gate instead.
